7. Can you please update us on the status of Marine Highway project submissions.

In June MARAD announced the open season for Marine Highway project submissions and applications to DOT for review and consideration through September 30, 2016. Can you please update us on the status of this program, including the fact that now short sea routes are being considered which do not have parallel landside routes?

About Maritime TV’s 'Ask the Administrator’ Program Series

‘Ask the Administrator’ is a Maritime TV series of pre-recorded interviews which originated during the tenure of Maritime Administrator Paul "Chip" Jaenichen in 2014 at various locations around the country and Washington D.C. The goal was to create a forum for communication with the industry-at- large. On November 20, 2017, Maritime TV recorded the first ‘Ask the Administrator’ interview with the Maritime Administrator who succeeded Mr. Jaenichen in the new administration,

Subsequent interviews in the ‘Ask the Administrator’ Series will be scheduled in the future. Maritime TV invites industry feedback in the form of questions for the Maritime Administrator which will be considered for inclusion in the program interview.

Each of the interviews in the ‘Ask the Administrator‘ program series will be available shortly after their production dates at this on-demand webcast site on Maritime TV.

On June 4, Deputy Maritime Administrator Paul “Chip” Jaenichen was named Acting Maritime Administrator. He will serve in this role until the appointment and confirmation of a new Maritime Administrator. Acting Maritime Administrator Jaenichen has been with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration since July 2012 when he was appointed Deputy Maritime Administrator by President Obama.

On Tuesday, February 12, 2014, Maritime TV’s Dave Gardy interviewed Mr. Jaenichen at MARAD headquarters in Washington. D.C. The full video interview and links to individual question responses are included here in the on-demand archives.
