In this installment, Dr. Cartner is interviewed along with Dan Turissini, a USMMA graduate and CTO of technology company Spyrus, Inc., about the challenges and the opportunities represented by the maritime industry’s adoption of Blockchain technology. The discussion was in response to the recent announcement by Maersk and IBM regarding their joint venture to offer Blockchain technology to the maritime industry with a platform that will streamline a full spectrum of global trade processes.

Maritime TV Internet TV Cyber-Skilled Mariner Series in Cooperation with MITAGS

Maritime TV, along with Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies (MITAGS) announced a joint effort to create a Maritime Operations Cybersecurity Training Curriculum. Initially, eight free 20-minute “Cyber-Skilled Mariner” Internet TV Programs will be featured on Maritime TV at this event series site starting in October, 2018, targeted to students at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, State Maritime Academies, Maritime Union Schools and professionals in the maritime industry. Maritime TV is producing this series with cybersecurity expert Dan Turissini, KP ’81.
