THE 2026 SALUTE TO CONGRESS TO HONOR Congressman Salud Carbajal

The International Propeller Club of the United States is proud to announce that Congressman Salud Carbajal, Ranking Member of the House of Representatives Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, will be honored at our annual Salute to Congress event on May 6, 2026 at the Army Navy Country Club, 1700 Army Navy Drive, Arlington, Virginia. The reception will begin at 6:00 PM, and dinner will begin at 7:30 PM. Congressman Carbajal has served in the House of Representatives since 2017 and currently represents the 24th Congressional District of California, which includes the entirety of Santa Barbara County and portions of San Luis Obispo and Ventura counties.

Beginning in 1985, the Propeller Club’s Salute to Congress award has been presented to members of Congress who have demonstrated a keen awareness of the importance of all segments of the maritime industry to the economic, homeland and national security of the United States.

Costis Frangoulis, International President of the International Propeller Club, stated that the decision to honor Congressman Salud Carbajal is in recognition of his many years of leadership in Congress on behalf of the maritime industry. According to President Frangoulis, “During his time in Congress, Congressman Carbajal has been a forceful and outspoken advocate for all segments of the maritime industry. Throughout his career, he has played a key role in the enactment of numerous maritime legislative initiatives and has worked tirelessly to ensure that the programs and policies important to our industry are funded, implemented, and enforced. His efforts, especially those relating to the recruitment and retention of American mariners, have been critically important.”

The House Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation has jurisdiction over the United States Coast Guard; regulation of vessels and seamen; international conventions related to the safety of life at sea; and the regulation of ocean shipping, domestic cabotage, and the merchant marine, except as it relates to national defense. Congressman Carbajal helped write and pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – which delivered $1.2 trillion in federal funding to restore our country’s infrastructure.

Prior to his election to Congress in 2016, Carbajal served on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors for 12 years. He also served eight years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, including being mobilized to active duty service during the 1992 Gulf War.
