The Marine Society of the City of New York celebrated its 254th Annual Dinner, honoring Rear Admiral Michael Alfultis and Mr. Steinar Nerbovik, President and CEO of Philly Shipyard. RADM Alfultis, the 11th President of SUNY Maritime College since June 2014, brings a wealth of experience from his 28 years of service in the US Coast Guard, coupled with extensive teaching and academic administrative background. The Marine Society of the City of New York was established in 1770 as a charitable and educational organization focusing on maritime knowledge and was instrumental in founding the Sailors’ Snug Harbor in 1801, later contributing to the establishment of SUNY Maritime College. Today, the Society remains dedicated to serving seafarers and advancing American Merchant Shipping.
