COAST GUARD ENFORCES COMPLIANCE WITH NEW SECURITY REQUIREMENTS

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Coast Guard has collected the following nationwide compliance data on both the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) and Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA). These numbers are current as of 6 p.m., but are not final and are subject to change.

  • ISPS compliance numbers as of July 1
  • Total foreign vessel arrivals: 270
  • Number of foreign vessels (included above) inspected and approved before July 1: 154
  • Number of foreign vessels inspected in port: 78
  • Number of foreign vessels inspected at sea: 1
  • Number of foreign vessels denied entry, detained or removed from port: 6
  • MTSA compliance numbers as of July 1
  • U.S. vessels restricted: 42
  • U.S. facilities restricted or closed: 19

Restrictions placed on U.S. vessels and facilities range in severity based on the nature of the ship or facility and of non-compliance.
