In this third program in the series, Balzano documents the important role played by Jess Calhoon during the Reagan administration in martialing the support for maintaining the 1973 ban on Alaskan oil exports, thus insuring the oil would continue to be shipped on U.S. Flag ships. Balzano again provides a remarkable first hand historical retrospective on how the U.S. maritime industry, with leaders like Calhoon, worked behind the scenes to try to insure the industry had the attention and support of the political leaders and the presidential administrations in the late 20th century.
