About the Report

A monthly report featuring U.S. Merchant Marine Academy news and activities including video interviews with midshipmen, key academy representatives and alumni in the industry to reflect special interest pro-active Kings Point news and stories that don’t always get traction in the trade and mainstream media, but are still worthy of being highlighted. Interviews are conducted at Maritime TV studios near Washington D.C. via Skype, video web conference or simply with a phone and photo head shot. Live and archived webcast programming includes features produced at the academy, at locations around the U.S. and incorporates sound bites from presenters at academy-related conferences and alumni chapter meetings.

The entire Regiment of Midshipmen came together to reflect what happened 11 years ago when academy personnel and midshipman were instrumental in the famous 9/11 boatlift that evacuated half a million people from stricken piers and seawalls of lower Manhattan. The Almuni Association and Foundation sponser Kings Point night at Citifield Stadium where Natalie Jones, Class of 2013 sang the National Anthem and the Academy Color Guard presented the colors. Maritime TV interviews Jim Tobin, President of the Alumni Association Foundation. 
     
The new academy training vessel, the M/V Liberty Star arrives in preparation for the Plaque and Key Ceremony.  Captain Jay Kennedy, Commandment of Midshipman and Professor Susan Petersen Lubow, Director of Athletics give MaritimeTV's own Dave Gardy and tour of the Academy's recent capital improvements.  MaritimeTV interviews Superintendent James Helis
